This position works closely with pharmacists, pharmacy technicians and other
health practitioners to meet the various needs of the patients. Responsible for
coordinating clinical and distributive pharmacy services and ensuring that the
pharmacy provides optimal services on a daily basis.
- Coordinates, designs and implements strategies to improve the medication-
use system, including prescribing, transcription, dispensing, and administration
and monitoring of drug therapies.
- Ensures that patient-specific and medication-specific information needed to
support effective medication-related patient care decisions is readily available to
physicians, nurses, pharmacists and other pertinent health care providers.
- Participates in the assessment, implementation and monitoring of
technological improvements to the medication-use system.
- Coordinates communication of changes in practice involving drug therapy
among the medical, nursing, and pharmacy staffs to ensure patient safety.
Includes supervisory duties: This role may, from time to time, take on
management duties in the absence of a pharmacy manager. Direct
management of staff is a big part of this job. Recruiting and training techs.
Orient new hires. Departmental liaising. Report directly to ops manager over
central, IV oncology room and IT. (There is a dedicated IT staff in place.) Oversee
operations implementations, such as an upcoming Pyxis med station upgrade.  

Requires the ability to set priorities, make critical decisions and respond quickly
to emergency requests. Use various computer systems proficiently. Requires B.
S. in Pharmacy or PharmD. Prefer candidates with 5+ years of relevant
pharmacy and operations experience, along with residency completion. MA-
licensed Pharmacist (or eligible). CPOE experience helpful, as is experience
with pharmacy redesign (coming next year) and experience with implementing
new processes and pharmacy services. Policy and procedure experience is
ideal. Competent with order entry, staffing of IV room, and staff RPH duties. Must
be a practicing pharmacist with recent experience in large facilities.

Pay max is plus or minus 130K. Schedule is almost always 8AM to 5PM.
