Our client is a 280-bed community hospital that provides quality award-winning
healthcare to communities in Southeastern Connecticut and Fishers Island,
New York. It is located along the Connecticut shoreline halfway between Boston
and New York. There are a variety of housing options including year-round

Salary range is $70,000 - $113,000

SUMMARY:
Serves as facilitator, educator, and resource for leadership and staff relating to
Evidence-based Practice Infection Prevention. Plans, develops, facilitates and
coordinates the infection prevention program for the organization as well as
ensures compliance with the requirements of CMS, Joint Commission and
other applicable regulatory and/or accrediting agencies.
1. Plans, directs and evaluates all aspects of the organization’s Infection
Prevention Program and manages the daily activities/operations.
2. Establishes and maintains an up-to-date Infection Prevention Plan, Infection
Prevention policies and guidelines for all hospital departments
3. Collects statistics prepares and presents reports to Infection Prevention
Committee and all others as appropriate.
4. Initiates Infection Prevention studies where indicated, including but not limited
to outbreak investigations
5. Maintains established Infection Prevention guidelines, quality assurance,
safety and other guidelines.
6. Responsible for preparation and control of Infection Prevention budget in
cooperation with the chief quality and patient safety officer.
7. Maintain a strong and collaborative working relationship with the Chair of
Infection Control/Chief of Infectious Disease
8. Ensures the Infection Prevention program uses appropriate statistical
techniques to describe the data, calculate rates, and critically evaluate
significance of findings. Analyzes and reports trended data and displays data in
appropriate graphical manner e.g. control charts, etc.
9. Conducting regular rounds in hospital departments for discussing,
monitoring and following the practices of infection control with staff people.
10. Assists in the development of productivity and reinforces with staff.
11. Provides coaching, counseling and other forms of support to staff.
12. Meets performance expectations for Customer Service, Teamwork,
Resource Utilization, and Staff and Self-Development as outlined in
performance review.
13. Performs other duties as assigned or directed to ensure smooth operation
of the department/unit.

REQUIREMENTS:
Education:        Graduate of a state approved School of Nursing.  Bachelors
Degree; Masters preferred. CIC Certification required.
Experience        Minimum of five- (5) year’s progressive acute care nursing
experience including satisfactory experience in a supervisory capacity.  
Experience with computer applications in Infection Prevention e.g. Safety
Surveillor Proficient in Microsoft Office Programs.
Training:        Keeps up-to-date on current Infection Prevention topics.  Attends
seminars and conferences on Infection Prevention.
Licensure        CT license in nursing.
